The Los Angeles Salsa Congress, which used to be called the West Coast Salsa Congress, is one of the most well known salsa congress around the world. 2008 marked the tenth anniversary of the congress, which is known as the largest salsa music event in the world. Every year it takes place over the course of four nights at the LAX Radisson, and includes performances, social dancing, vendors, and workshops all housed inside the hotel’s ballrooms. The motto for the event is “Creating unity through salsa” and is being produced by longtime salsa event pioneer Albert Torres as part of the Albert Torres Salsa Tour.

There will be one major performance each night and over fifty workshops including a special workshop from “The Mambo King” Eddie Torres. There will also be showcases of well over one hundred dance companies and individual performers from all over the world.
The LA Salsa Congress holds preliminary contests for the World Salsa Championships in On 1, On 2, Cabaret, and team divisions, with the winners of each division being eligible to compete in this years annual World Salsa Championships, being held at Walt Disney World Orlando, Florida, and broadcast on various ESPN channels.
The nightly event schedule for the LA Salsa Congress includes a pre-congress party on Wednesday. Every nightly event has a special theme. Tickets can be purchased for the entire congress and evening only sessions, as well as individual tickets for each night’s events. Tickets can also be purchased just for single performances with the total attendance of the congress limited to three thousand attendees.
